Poetry in the Garden: George Chopping
George Chopping is a poet who works in a pub and lives on a boat with his wife and cat.
He makes wry observations on life through poetry – as well as making us laugh. He is best-known as a performance poet and appears and hosts poetry events in Oxford.
We are delighted that George will be performing his poetry in the Mostly Books courtyard garden (weather permitting) on Wednesday, August 7 at 7.30pm.
He published his debut collection, ‘Smoking With Crohn's’ in August of last year.
Here are a few reviews of his work:
"Had the audience in hysterics" THE SUNDAY TIMES
"A perfectly balanced mixture of sweet- natured observation and steel melting bile" NIGHTSHIFT
"Droll and witty poetry delivered in amusingly deadpan style" THE OXFORD TIMES
"One of Unbound's raw talents, and as quickly becomes obvious, a true performance poet" MANCHESTER LITERATURE FESTIVAL BLOG
"The cream of Devon poets" JOHN HEGLEY
George was a huge hit at the 5x15 event earlier this year at Radley, and for anyone who enjoyed our event with John Hegley in 2011 - you will not be disappointed!
Tickets are £3, redeemable against a purchase of George's book on the night. Email us to reserve your place!
