Great
independents in Abingdon
Abingdon-on-Thames
is known as the home of the independent - we have more unique, individual,
quirky independent shops than many other market towns.
This
isn't a paid-for listings page, just our our pick of some of our
favourite shops in the town, which you should definitely try to
visit when you are visiting us (in alphabetical order):
Added
Ingredients - a wonderful deli just along the road from us in
Stert Street.
The
Broad Face - if we ran a pub, this is what we'd hope it would
be like. Fantastic beer and food down by the river.
De
Paawe Childrenswear - another of our Stert Street neighbours,
this is a vibrant little boutique full of top quality brands for
children.
Fabulous
Flowers - our
favourite flower shop, bar none.
Frugal
Foods - 25 years old, Frugal Foods is an organic and wholefood
shop in West St Helen's Street - with an excellent range of speciality
and health foods as well.
*NEW*
Local Roots -
Opening April 11th, Local Roots will retail local produce (straight
from the Farm), Local Art, Gifts, Crafts, Furnishings and other
quality goods which have been produced within a thirty mile radius
of the shop. Sophie Grigson will be opening the shop on the 11th.
Masons
- people travel for miles to visit the three Masons stores in Abingdon
to get their knitting, sewing and craft supplies. There are two
shops in Bath Street, and one in Stert Street. It's one of the oldest
family-run businesses in Abingdon.
The
Nursery Shop - one of our Stert Street neighbours, a beautiful
place for decking out the nursery, and simply adorable things for
your little ones.
Scuffs
- we get Alex's shoes from this amazing little children's shoe
shop on the market square.
